IPTV?

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

IPTV was rolled out here the other day, in the form of Windows Media streams which are accessible throughout the campus network. The channels are National Geographic, Discovery, CNBC, CNN, BBC World and a couple of Hong Kong news channels. Yes, that’s very limited, also in that all there is to it are those (low definition) streams being linked to from a website (could it actually be called IPTV?), but they did include CNBC (one of the few channels that I could get stuck watching, I admit) and Discovery (another one of those channels).

CNBC in Windows Media Player

Pretty useful when relaxing a little after those exams, if nothing else.

By the way, I talked to a representative of CNBC at ITU Telecom World last week. He told me that it is now possible to watch CNBC on their website and that one can freely choose between the US, Europe and Asia editions.

Kill Bill: Vol. 2

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

Yesterday, I went to the movies for watching Kill Bill: Vol. 2. There’s not one thing I can think of that I don’t love about that movie.

The actors and their characters, the story, the music and the mix of styles—there are really several different ones, from 70’s Kung-Fu movies to Spaghetti Westerns—I like it all. This applies to Vol. 1 as well.

If the plot sounds reasonably interesting to you and you haven’t watched both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 already, why don’t you do it?
